President Donald Trump criticized the federal government’s response to storm victims in North Carolina following Hurricane Helene, calling it the “WORST rescue operation” in the nation’s history.

Trump shared the strong words in an early morning post to Truth Social on Monday.

“The GREAT people of North Carolina are being stood up by Harris and Biden, who are giving almost all of the FEMA money to Illegal Migrants in what is now considered to be the WORST rescue operation in the history of the U.S.” Trump wrote.

“On top of that, Billions of Dollars is going to foreign countries! NORTH CAROLINA HAS BEEN VIRTUALLY ABANDONED BY KAMALA!!! DROP HER LIKE SHE DROPPED YOU – VOTE FOR PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP. MAGA2024!” he added.

The Trump campaign also released a statement on Sunday highlighting a report from The Daily Wire noting the false claims from White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“When asked if FEMA funding is being used to house illegal immigrants, Jean-Pierre denied it, calling the claim ‘categorically false’ and ‘a false statement,’” The Daily Wire report stated.

“But FEMA openly states that its funding has been used to house illegal immigrants who have entered the United States under the Biden-Harris administration,” it continued.

FEMA’s spending for fiscal year 2023 for housing illegal immigrants through its “Shelter and Services Program” was $360 million. The budget for fiscal year 2024 is $650 million, the report noted.

Over 200 people died from Hurricane Helene and hundreds remain missing. According to the Free Beacon, damages from the hurricane are estimated at $30 billion.

“The real story here is that the Biden-Harris administration has spurned the interests of the American people since day one, pushing for hundreds of millions of FEMA dollars every year, specifically for illegal immigrants,” Rep. Mark Green (R., Tenn.), who chairs the House Committee on Homeland Security, said in an Oct. 4 statement, the Free Beacon added.

Some lawmakers are now pushing to once again move forward with an effort to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas, the nation’s Secretary of Homeland Security who is responsible for the nation’s security efforts. Among them are Rep. Nancy Mace, who post to X on Friday that she has voted to do so once already, asking whether the effort is needed again.

“Kamala Harris and Alejandro Mayorkas have turned FEMA into a migrant resettlement agency,” Mace posted to  X on Thursday.
