Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz responded to debate offers from President Donald Trump and Ohio Sen. JD Vance on Thursday.

A statement from the Harris campaign confirmed two debates between Trump and Harris and one between Vance and Walz.

“Assuming Donald Trump actually shows up on September 10 to debate Vice President Harris, then Governor Walz will see JD Vance on October 1 and the American people will have another opportunity to see the vice president and Donald Trump on the debate stage in October,” campaign communications director Michael Tyler said in a statement.

“Voters deserve to see the candidates for the highest office in the land share their competing visions for our future,” he added. “The more they play games, the more insecure and unserious Trump and Vance reveal themselves to be to the American people. Those games end now.”

The misleading statement avoided Trump’s recent offer for three debates and Vance’s offer to hold at least two debates with Walz.

Trump announced on Aug. 8 that he agreed to hold three debates with Harris.

“It is important to have debates. We have agreed with Fox on a date of September 4. We have agreed with NBC, fairly full agreement subject to them, on September 10. And we have agreed with ABC on September 25,” Trump said.

“We have spoken to the heads of the networks and it has been confirmed other than some very minor details,” he added.

Trump warned that the “other side” must agree, however, something he was uncertain would happen.

“They may or may not agree. I don’t know if they’re going to agree. She has not done an interview. She can’t do an interview. She is barely competent,” Trump argued. “I look forward to the debates.”

Vance took to X to announce his acceptance of two debates, including one on CBS and another on CNN.

“The American people deserve as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has challenged Kamala to three of them already,” he wrote on Thursday.

“Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both!” he added.

A post on the Trump War Room highlighted the contrast in who is really “afraid” to debate.

“President Trump challenged Kamala to three debates. She only accepted two. J.D. Vance challenged Freakish Timothy Walz to two debates. He only accepted one. Just so everyone is aware which campaign in this race is ‘too afraid’ to debate,” the account stated.
