U.S. Senate candidate Katie Britt, who is running to replace retiring Sen. Richard Shelby Brooks, R-Ala., weighed in on President Trump’s withdrawal of his endorsement of Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala.
Britt released a statement, saying, “We’d be thrilled to earn President Trump’s endorsement.” She added, “I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to meet with and talk with President Trump a few times about our race.”
The Republican hopeful released a statement after Trump blasted Brooks for going “woke.”
“Mo Brooks of Alabama made a horrible mistake recently when he went ‘woke’ and stated, referring to the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, ‘Put that behind you, put that behind you,’ despite the fact that the Election was rife with fraud and irregularities,” said the 45th president.
“I will be making a new Endorsement in the near future!” he added. With Trump considering an endorsement of a different candidate in Alabama’s Senate race, Katie Britt indicated that she is eager for a boost in their respective campaigns.
Trump’s immensely successful record of endorsements has caught the attention of Republican candidates across the nation. His initial endorsement of Mo Brooks resulted in Brooks leading his Republican opponents in the polls. However, now that Trump has rescinded his stamp of approval from Brooks and is preparing to endorse a different candidate, either Katie Britt or Mike Durant are expected to gain momentum in the race.
While the 45th president reconsiders his endorsement, Britt stated, “We continue to work tirelessly on the campaign trail, traveling to every corner of our state and listening to hardworking Alabamians.”
She explained that Alabamians “miss President Trump’s strength and America First leadership.” Her campaign is running on the same issues that Trump highlighted during his presidential campaigns. Britt hopes to gain the support of the MAGA movement, claiming the people of Alabama “overwhelming support President Trump.”
Britt also explained that residents of Alabama are suffering under the ineffective policies of the Biden administration, saying, “People across Alabama know that Joe Biden’s weakness is making us more vulnerable and the world a more dangerous place.”
After campaigning across the state of Alabama, Britt asserted, “It is clear from our travels and from our momentum that Alabamians can see that I’m the best candidate to fight for the MAGA agenda and defend our Christian conservative values.”
In the wake of Trump’s rare move to withdraw his endorsement, the Senate race in Alabama is receiving national attention, leading Americans to question whether Britt or Durant will gain the upper hand and receive the 45th president’s endorsement.
