Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., shined a spotlight this week on the “Trans Bill of Rights” that has been introduced by Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., in the House of Representatives.
The bill has been cosponsored and reintroduced recently by Sen. Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., and Democrat California Reps. Sarah Jacobs, Mark Pocan, Mark Takano, and Independent Rhode Island Rep. David Cicilline.
“It’s a sense of Congress resolution, meaning it wouldn’t have the force of law but would lead to laws, and it’s the most insane piece of legislation I’ve ever seen,” Rep. Greene explained on Twitter. “10 pages of mentally unstable wokeness. I’m sure the left’s base will love it, mostly messaging that reveals that Trans are the new protected class replacing BLM. In other words, prepare for Transtifa riots in the future, but I believe these could be worse.”
According to a press statement from Rep. Jayapal’s office, the resolution “provides a comprehensive policy framework to provide protections for transgender and nonbinary people, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their gender identity or expression.”
The statement claimed that it would achieve equal opportunity for the transgender community by providing legal protection for all trans-identifying people, “inclusive” curriculum in schools, expanding access to “gender affirming care,” banning “conversion therapy,” and utilizing Civil Rights laws to enforce these policies.
“They want to amend the Civil Rights Act, the Fair Housing Act, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act to ban discrimination based on gender identity,” Greene continued. “That means Trans become a protected class and women’s rights are totally and completely annihilated. Men pretending to be women would not just be equal to women in all areas, they would be preferred and above all women, essentially replacing women.”
The transgender movement has become increasingly militant over the past few years. Last week, champion swimmer and women’s rights activist Riley Gaines was attacked at San Francisco State University by a mob of “trans activists.” Gaines said she was held hostage for three hours and even physically assaulted by a man.
In March, a woman identifying as a man committed a mass shooting in Nashville at a private Christian school, resulting in the slaughter of six innocent people – including three children.
Greene noted the “dangerous” elements in Jayapal’s bills, highlighting the following:
- “Calls for a ban on conversion therapy, a type of therapy many former gays, trans, and detransitioners have undergone to successfully change their life.
- Calls for codification of Roe v. Wade which would make abortion legal in all 50 states, destroy state rights, and ensure the murder of babies all over America.
- Calls for prohibiting the withholding of services to trans people on religious grounds, which destroys religious liberty.
- Calls for education laws to ensure students have the right to participate in sports that best align with their gender, and use facilities that correspond to their preferred gender, which destroys Title IV and women’s rights.
- …calls for trans in schools to have access to curriculum and books that accurately portray the ‘substantive history and identity of LGBTQI+ people and Black and indigenous people of color.’”
She added, “Also calls for getting rid of government restrictions on access to gender affirming care for trans adults and youth. This means the great laws Republican states have been passing that protect children from Trans surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormones would be wiped out and kids would not be safe anywhere.”
Rep. Greene previously introduced the “Protect Children’s Innocence Act” in the House, which would criminalize “gender affirming care” for minors, codifying such procedures as a Class C felony.
