President Trump’s lead in the GOP race is inarguable, but his closest runner-up has shifted.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has slipped into third place, with Vivek Ramaswamy now holding the runner-up position with 11 percent of voters support, according to the latest Cygnal poll.

This information was shared to X Thursday, and Interactive Polls displayed the downward trend in support for DeSantis spanning across months.

In December 2022, DeSantis was polling favorably with 22 percent of the vote, but that has diminished over time, dropping to just ten percent in August.

This comes after RSBN reported that the DeSantis campaign fired staffers last month amid rumors of campaign finance issues. In addition, DeSantis recently replaced his campaign manager, per Politico.

DeSantis was also in a car accident last month, according to RSBN, and he angered the MAGA movement after stating that Trump lost the 2020 election despite a wide belief from GOP voters that he did not per RSBN.

Furthermore, Vivek Ramaswamy has been campaigning on America First issues. Last month, RSBN reported that he unveiled a plan to “eliminate the FBI” and “shut down the federal administrative state.”

This popular stance has propelled Ramaswamy ahead of DeSantis in the polls, but so has his support of front-runner President Trump.

Unlike DeSantis, Ramaswamy has stood up for Trump continuously. He has vowed to pardon Trump if he wins the 2024 presidential election, according to the National Review, and is even suing the DOJ over the third Trump indictment, per The Hill

Meanwhile, President Trump is largely ahead of all of his opponents and has praised Ramaswamy for “doing so well” in recent months, according to The Hill.

This has led to speculation that the two would team up with Ramaswamy as Trump’s vice President, but Ramaswamy told News Nation Now on Tuesday that he would not accept the “number two” role.
