ICE loses track of illegal immigrants in U.S. due to Biden’s failed border policies

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released information showing over 47,000 illegal immigrants, who were released from Border Patrol custody in 2021, have failed to follow notices to report.

The latest report shows that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lost track of over 47,000 illegal immigrants released into the United States since last March.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., sent a letter to DHS in October, seeking answers for the Biden administration’s actions pertaining to the southern border. After months of silence, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, has finally responded to Johnson, revealing that unprecedented numbers of illegal immigrants have been released inside the United States and have failed to report.

In the letter to Sen. Johnson, Mayorkas stated, “The Department continues to prioritize and allocate critical, limited resources toward the Southwest Border to process noncitizens consistent with applicable legal authorities, including our immigration authorities and public health requirements.”

Despite claiming this commitment to law enforcement and immigration authorities, the report included by DHS shows that the Biden administration is not concerned with the safety and security of the American people. The report reveals that a shocking 47,705 migrants have failed to report to U.S. authorities. Out of 104,171 noncitizens released between March and August of 2021 with a notice to report, almost half have been lost by law enforcement, as they have failed to meet their requirements.

The notice to report system of processing migrants into the United States was initiated under the Biden administration in sharp contrast to President Donald Trump’s immigration policies such as the “remain in Mexico policy.”

The Biden administration claimed that this new policy would reduce the amount of time Border Patrol agents would have to spend filling out paperwork specific for each immigrant. The Biden administration also attempted to provide an incentive for noncitizens to report to authorities by promising documents allowing them to work legally inside the U.S.

The Biden administration’s border policies have been disastrous for the U.S. This report shows that illegal immigrants have taken advantage of the administration’s policies. Rather than improving the processing of individuals crossing the southern border, the Biden administration’s policies have created an unprecedented disaster.

Recent reports have indicated that nearly two million migrants were arrested at the border in 2021 and an estimated 500,000 were able to illegally cross into the U.S.

Under President Trump, the border was secured. Under Biden’s administration, however, the border has clearly failed. Speaking on the number of illegal immigrants attempting to come into the U.S., Trump has said, “In total, in 2021, Biden has aided and abetted over 2 MILLION illegal aliens in entering the United States—and even that number is a huge understatement.”

President Trump as consistently called out the failed border policies of the Biden administration. Contrasting Biden’s failed border policies with his own administration’s policies, he said, “We had the best border situation in the history of our country,” and now, we “have the worst border.”

As the letter to Sen. Johnson shows, Biden’s failed border policies have created a crisis at the southern border, resulting in over 47,000 undocumented immigrants being lost by ICE and DHS. With the Biden administration failing to provide safety and securing for millions of Americans on the southern border, the border is expected to play a key role in determining the 2022 midterm elections.
