Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., announced Friday that Florida’s economy is continuing to grow and celebrated 22 consecutive months of adding jobs.

The governor’s official press release stated, “Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida businesses continue to have robust employment opportunities, a benefit of a competitive and energized workforce where employers have added jobs for 22 consecutive months.”

According to the statistics released by DeSantis, “There were 8,132,300 private sector jobs statewide in February 2022, an increase of 525,200 jobs, or 6.9 percent, over the year.”

The governor also announced that Florida’s over-the-year rate of job growth was 5.2 percent in the month of February. Additionally, the governor’s press release explained, “Florida’s over-the-year private sector job growth rate has exceeded the nation’s for 11 consecutive months since April 2021.”

During his press conference Friday, DeSantis said, “Florida’s freedom first policies have made Florida a great state for businesses and families to grow.” He added, “When you put freedom first, you put hardworking families first, and every Floridian reaps the benefits. February’s economic data is more concrete evidence that Florida is on the right path.”

While most states have struggled to develop a stable economy in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, the state of Florida has been leading the way for unprecedented job growth. Florida outpacing the rest of the nation over the past 11 months highlights the effective policies of DeSantis.

Rather than ruling by tyrannical mandates that cripple supply chains and the workforce, the governor has kept Florida’s economy free and open, allowing businesses to thrive.

In a tweet released Friday, DeSantis also pointed out that Florida’s 3.3 percent unemployment rate is “well below the national average.” Florida’s low unemployment rate is impressive given the plethora of issues plaguing the economy under the Biden administration.

Florida’s economy has benefited from the massive level of domestic tourism in the state of Florida over the past year due in large part to Americans flocking to Florida to escape from liberal governors.

Recently, DeSantis warned of the negative implications of electing Democrats in the 2022 midterm elections. The governor specifically mentioned that Democrats would continue to impose mandates that go against the freedom of Americans. DeSantis also emphasized, “There is no place in Florida for COVID theater.”

Due to the governor’s strong American First policies and his commitment to defending freedom for millions of Americans, Republicans are continuing to build upon their advantage in Florida ahead of the 2022 midterms.
